Access and Disability Advice
The Role of our Access Officer

The Access Officer's tasks include:
- Assessing and commenting on all planning applications submitted to the Authorities
- Liaising with local voluntary groups who represent disabled people
- Conducting access audits on Council buildings, pedestrian areas and making recommendations for improvements
- Increasing the awareness of the needs of local disabled people
- Liaising with Council services such as Highways on issues such as safer street crossings, dropped kerbs etc
- Advising businesses on how they can make their services more accessible
