PORTSMOUTH JOIN THE BUILDING CONTROL PARTNERSHIP

It is with great pleasure that I can inform you that we have now concluded an agreement for Portsmouth City Council Building Control service to join The Building Control Partnership as the third member as from 11th May 2015.

As you may be aware, the Building Control Sections of Gosport and Fareham Borough Councils have successfully worked together as The Building Control Partnership for the last thirteen years.

The objective of the Partnership is to provide you with high quality, cost effective and consistent Building Control Services and to look at innovative ways in which we can improve service delivery.

The Partnership will jointly administer Building Regulations and other submissions on behalf of Portsmouth City Council, Fareham and Gosport Borough Councils.

Over the next six months, we will be working towards centralising the Partnership administrative function at our Depot office in Fareham, but in the meantime I would be grateful if any postal correspondence and applications for the Portsmouth City area can continue to be addressed to our Portsmouth Office located as before in the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square.

In the short term, the existing Building Regulation Charges in the Portsmouth area should be used for projects located in Portsmouth but work is under way to harmonise charge levels across the three partnership authorities. Payments should continue to be made out to Portsmouth City Council.

In order to improve access to our services, callers may now deposit Fareham, Gosport or Portsmouth Planning, Building Regulations and other building submissions at any of the Partnership offices. If you are sending e-applications to Portsmouth, please continue to use buildcontrol@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

In the near future, we are looking forward strengthening our existing surveying teams by the addition of further Senior Building and Assistant Building Control Surveyors.

I would like to thank all our clients and service users for their continuing support during the development period of this unique Partnership. I am very optimistic that you will notice further significant service enhancements and improvements in the forthcoming year.

If you have any comments about this new initiative or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact John Shaw, Head of Building Control Partnership on 02392 824450
