Application types
Application for approval with full plans
This is the most common option and is usually submitted by an agent or architect. Scaled Building Regulations plans, showing the proposed constructional details and any supporting structural calculations are submitted with the application form. We recommend this route for all types of projects other than minor works.
Building Notice application
Detailed plans are not required for a Building Notice (see restrictions on it’s use below) and you can start work 48 hours after the application and the correct fee have been submitted. This type of application is generally used for smaller works such as structural alterations or single storey extensions.
Regularisation application
If you have already carried out building works without obtaining building regulations approval, you can submit a regularisation application. Regularisation applies to both domestic and non-domestic work. However, it only applies to work carried out after 11 November 1985.
Replacement windows and doors application
When replacing windows, doors or rooflights you need to comply with the standards set out in the Building Regulations to reduce energy loss. The Regulations apply to both domestic and non-domestic buildings.
Domestic electrical work application
The Building Regulations set out overall criteria and requirements to ensure electrical safety in and around dwellings.
Demolition Notice application
If you are going to demolish a building in the Fareham Borough, Gosport Borough, Havant Borough or Portsmouth City Council areas, official notice must be given to us at the Building Control Partnership, ideally a minimum of six weeks before the intended start of the demolition.
