Coronavirus update

Building Control Partnership(BCP) COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Statement.

In these exceptional times the BCP would like to reassure all customers and clients that the Partnership has taken the necessary steps to ensure that our services will continue to operate and that we deliver our services effectively, while protecting the health and well-being of our employees and their families.

We will be continuing to monitor the situation on a daily basis to further ensure that we are operationally as close to ‘business as usual’ as can reasonably be expected. This will obviously be guided by the evolving advice from the government and other official sources.

Our online application and payment services continue to operate normally and we will continue to be fully contactable by phone and email.

The safety of our staff is paramount. In line with government guidelines, across our organisation, we are encouraging colleagues to minimise unnecessary travel and to conduct meetings remotely where possible. In addition, we are reinforcing the absolute need to observe recommended hygiene and close contact practises including at client site locations and enforce self-isolation where necessary.

We are continuing to maintain a presence in our main office at Broadcut in Fareham but will not be open to visitors. We also have administration and surveying staff based at the Civic offices in Portsmouth, but again not open to visitors. All our other surveyors will be operating from home in order to improve our resilience. This is a scaled up version of a well-tested operational model that we have been using for some time.

We fully appreciate that many builders are trying to finish projects to ensure that home owners are secure and comfortable in case the emergency gets worse. Larger developers and house builders also want to manage larger sites and their overall business; BCP is doing everything it can to help. It’s a busy and unprecedented time, so stay in-touch with us and be pro-active about asking for inspections so that forward planning is made easier.

We will continue to attend site to carry out inspections/ meetings taking the necessary extra health precautions required, but where possible we are making use of other verification/communication/recording methods to ensure we can continue to provide our services. Please be aware that when requesting a site visit, we will be asking additional questions in respect of the health of the people we will be in contact with.

In this fluid and uncertain situation that we all find ourselves in, we look forward to continue working with you and trust you all remain in good health.
